Upcoming Artists from Payyanur

Liju, an eighth standard student of Kunhimangalam Higher Secondary School is creating history by winning all the painting and drawing competitions he participate.  He won first prize in the watercolour painting and second in the pencil drawing in the last Kerala schools youth festival held at Aalapuzha. He had won first prizes in the state level competition conducted by Mathrubhumi and Balabhoomi. Liju stood first and bagged the Rs 10,000 cash award in the water-colour painting competition- “Manava Maithri Varna Sangamam 2004”- conducted by Kerala Lalita Kala Academy at Kochi. He also bagged gold medals in the painting competitions conducted by Kunhikannan Jewellery and Mathrubhumi, PR Kurup memorial competition, the painting competition conducted as part of CPM state conference etc. He stood first in five consecutive years in the wild life week celebration arts competition.  Liju is son of KV Lakshmanan and CV Latha.
