It
was with great enthusiasm, the first meeting of the Pravasis
of Payyanur
and surrounding areas in Abu Dhabi was held under the banner of PSV, Abu
Dhabi on Friday, the 17 January 2003. Nearly 100 people gathered and
actively took part in the 3 hour-long discussion and other programmes.
Most of them have expressed their concern for not having a forum of
Payyanurians in Abu Dhabi and thanked the organizers for trying to bring
the Payyanurians under one banner. All appreciated the role taken by
Payyanur Dot Com for its initiative in organizing such an event. M.
Abdul Salam introduced the organizers and spoke about the purpose of the
gathering. VTV Damodaran, who acted as the chief coordinator for
conducting this event, welcomed the gathering. Janardanadas
Kunhimangalam, one of the executive directors of Payyanur Dot Com briefed
the gathering, the background and the objectives of the PSV, Abu Dhabi. The
draft constitution presented by the co-ordination committee was passed
unanimously after through discussions. The meeting also elected a Managing
Committee for the year 2003 unanimously. |

The

The
members introduced themselves and it was a matter of great surprise when
the so-called neighbours coming from Payyanur meeting each other after
many years. The
newly elected President, Usman Karappath called for the co-operation and
involvement of all Payyanurians in all the future activities of PSV to
make it a model forum. MV Gopalan, Ramesh Payyanur and VP Sasikumar
attended the function, representing PSV- Dubai. They congratulated the
newly elected managing committee and assured full support and
co-operation. T P Gangadharan, the Mathrubhumi correspondent of Abu Dhabi
who was a special invitee gave a felicitation speech. The newly nominated
Patrons of the SouhrudaVedi also offered their felicitations. One of the
participants KK AnilKumar presented a melodious solo, which was followed
by a short but attractive mimicry performance by Ramesh Payyanur. B.
