This north end piece of land of Kerala has a rich and magnificent heritage. The archeological remaining excavated from here and nearby places prove the existence of a civilized inheritance in this area centuries ago. The “Aduppootti Para” (Umbrella rock) and the recently found caves made of stones take us back to the centuries Old Stone Age civilization. During the freedom struggle this small village also gave immense contributions. The leaders like, Vishnu Bharateeyan, KA Keraleeyan, TC Narayanan Nambiar, VR Nayanar, KC Nambiar gave leadership to the national movement of Kunhimangalam. A river called “Changoorichal” is the west boundary of this village. During the 12th century, according to historians ships from China and other countries sailed through this river. When China’s main mode of transportation was through sea, one of their biggest ship called “Changu” anchored in this river and that is why this river is known as “Changoorichal”. There are several legends associated with the nearby temples like “Ashtamachal”, “Madayikkavu” and this river.
