The wide acclaimed Soorya India Festival 2002 was held on 21st February, 2002 at Bishop Trinanzi Auditorium, Sacred Heart Church, Manama, Bahrain at 7.30 pm. The prime attraction of the event was the Bharathanatyam recital by the “dancing couple of India”, Dhananjayans, in front of the packed audience along with Divya Ramachandran, one of their senior dance disciples. Shanta and Dhananjayan have been ruling the classical dance arena as the most sought-after Bharatanatyam dancers in India. They have choreographed and produced varieties of traditional and contemporary themes in dance in India and abroad and have brought trend-setting innovative techniques to the ancient dance form. The music was provided by an orchestra, led by vocalist K Sasidharan, Karthikeyan on mridangam and Kalairasan on violin. |
